Cleaning
Sex Toys
You can extend the life of
your sex toy, and ensure that it remains clean and in good condition
for maximum pleasure by following a few simple tips.
Always clean sex toys thoroughly
immediately after use. Wash with warm soap and water. If the toy is
battery operated and not waterproof, take care not to get water into
the controls.
Never boil toys that are
battery operated, or made from rubber or realistic materials such as
CyberSkin™. An antibacterial cleaner
is recommended for all sex toys. Products such as Clean Vibe are specially
formulated for the cleansing, sterilization and hygene of sex toys.

After cleaning, ensure all
soap is rinsed off, and allow your toy to dry completely on a clean,
lint free cloth before storing to prevent mould from forming. Also ensure
batteries are removed prior to storing to prevent corrosion in the battery
compartment.
Lubrication
Always use a lubricant with
your toy, as the materials used in sex toys can create friction when
used on dry skin. Water based lubricants are safe to use with all sex
toys, See our Lubricants Section for more information.
Storage
Always make sure your sex
toy is dry before storage, as this will prevent mold and mildew from
forming.
Remove the batteries before
storage, to prevent corrosion in the battery compartment. The batteries
and the toy will also last longer.
Do not allow sex toys to
come into contact with each other during storage. Different materials
are not always compatible, and can discolor or cause each other to break
down. Toys that feature removable eggs or bullets should be stored with
these components removed.
Finally, sex toys don't like
extremes in temperature or direct, prolonged sunlight, especially if
they are made of the more exotic materials such as silicone, latex or
other realistic materials. Store in a cool, dark place, away from dirt,
dust, pets etc. It's also a good idea to clean them again before use
when taking them out of storage.
Sharing
Keep in mind that the same
risks apply when sharing a sex toy with a partner as with having sex
with a partner. You should always clean sex toys before switching from
anal to vaginal use, or between partners, to avoid introducing bacteria
into the vagina. The easiest way to do this is to put a condom over
the sex toy, and just change the condom rather than cleaning the sex
toy. This also protects the sex toy and should give it a longer life.
